Garbage Disposal Installation and Repair
If your garbage disposal is working the way it should, you may sometimes stop and wonder how you ever got along without one. Or maybe you’ve grown so accustomed to the way this appliance makes meal cleanup so quick and convenient that you take your garbage disposal for granted.
In either case, there’s nothing convenient about a clogged or broken garbage disposal – that is, until you call Benjamin Franklin Plumbing, located in Berlin, MD. We cover a wide area of Maryland, including Worcester County, MD, as well as parts of Delaware, making garbage disposal repair and installation available to homeowners just like you.
Why Garbage Disposals Get Clogged
Most often, garbage disposal clogs are due to people overestimating the appliance’s abilities and trying to grind things that the disposal can’t handle. When this happens, we implore you not to attempt to unclog it with your hands, as doing this puts you at risk for a painful and severe injury. Leave the repairs to the professionals at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing.
We also repair leaks.
If your garbage disposal has a leak, you’ll probably smell it before you see it. If you notice a bad smell from your sink, call us.
Leaks can originate from the drain line, the seal between the disposal and the sink line, or disposals themselves. Depending on which of these our inspection identifies as the problem, we may be able to make a repair, or it may be time for a replacement. In either scenario, we’ve got you covered:
- If your garbage disposal is leaking from the side, it’s probably a drain line problem. We can reseal the connection where the disposal connects to the drain line.
- If your disposal is leaking from the top, it’s a sign that there’s a loose connection in the screws or plumber’s putty where the garbage disposal connects to the sink. By detaching the disposal and some of the sink pipes, we can replace the connection with new screws or putty.
Garbage Disposal Installation
If the leak is coming from the bottom of the disposal, it’s a likely indication that the disposal’s internal seals have worn out and that you need a replacement.
When we perform an installation, we give you the option to have a disposal that’s bigger and better than ever! You can upgrade to a powerful, restaurant-strength model that can grind up and break down practically anything you need it to.
